ANTI-ISA DEMO : Limo drivers demand RM3m for loss of business

KUALA LUMPUR: The Limousine and Hired Car Drivers and Operators Association yesterday handed a memorandum to the federal territories minister over the losses they incurred during last Saturday's anti-ISA rally.

Its vice-president Mohd Syahrir Abdul Aziz said his drivers lost many trips as a result of the rally and demanded RM3 million compensation from the Abolish ISA Movement, which organised the rally.

Speaking after accepting the memorandum at City Hall, minister Raja Nong Chik said he would compile all memorandums and claims from parties affected by the rally before sending them to the organisers.

More than 50 taxi drivers gathered at the City Hall building at Jalan Raja Laut to voice their grievances.

Present were several tra-ders and representatives from hotels in the city, whose businesses were also badly hit. - NST
