PETALING JAYA, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- The open squabble within the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat continued Friday, with the DAP demanding a disciplinary hearing against PAS exco member Datuk Dr Hasan Ali for seeking the removal of the DAP's Ronnie Liu as the local government committee chairman.
Labelling Dr Hasan's move as "unwarranted and unjustified", state DAP deputy chairman Tony Pua said it was further exacerbated by an aborted attempt by PAS Youth to demonstrate against Liu, and Selangor Pas' intention to carry out a state-wide campaign at various mosques, as reported by the media.
"What makes the call for his removal, further unacceptable is the fact that Ronnie was carrying out his responsibilities diligently by returning illegally seized goods to their rightful owners," Pua told reporters at the Selangor DAP office here today.
He said it also marked the first time an exco member in a Pakatan Rakyat state government had called for the removal of a fellow exco member from his position.
"We have an excellent relationship with PAS at the federal level, but we are completely perplexed at how things are happening in Selangor, which is different from the relationship at the federal level, which is almost like we are dealing with two different parties altogether," he said.
Dr Hasan had called for Liu's removal because he had interfered in the confiscation of beer from a convenient store in Shah Alam by the local authorities.
Pua said the DAP would hand over a letter to the Pakatan leadership today to set up the disciplinary committee.
